The Cast of "Ninja Turtles" 2014

TMNT2016Castrd

News is just coming out about the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film left, right and center.  With filming location and cast members.  This is the sort of the thing that people have been waiting for and excitement is filling the air on the front of the new Ninja Turtle film.  Of course the first acting news for the film went to Megan Fox being brought in as a leading lady of the movie.  Now we’ve got news of who the four Turtles are and of the first filming location.  So let’s dive into this news and take a look at who is in the cast for the "Ninja Turtles" June 2014 Movie.

Michelan Sisti, Leif Tilden, Josh Pais and David Forman.  Four names that most Ninja Turtle fans have never heard of till the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film came to theaters in 1990.  Josh was in a few TV shows before he got the role on TMNT such as The Cosby Show & Murphy Brown.  David Forman was mostly known as a stunt double, though he did do some acting roles like in “Nuns on the Run”.  Michelan Sisti and Leif Tilden got their start into the movies through Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  These were the four men who did the body movements for the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie.  Wearing the heavy costumes and bringing the Turtles to life.  While they did use unknowns for the costume actors they brought in a few people to do the voice work for the Turtles, that people would be known.  Most famous of these voices was Corey Feldman who took on the role of Donatello.

This is how the Turtle movies did it, they did not cast the lead cast as stars.  So I am thankful to say, I do not know any of these actors cast in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle film.  The first name released was Alan Ritchson, who will be Raphael.  I have looked over his films to see if I know him in anything and I really don’t, I know some family and friends who use to watch Smallville so may know him for the role of Aquaman.  Pete Ploszek has been brought in to play Leonardo, he has two TV series credits “Shameless” and “Parks and Recreation”.  I do know of Shameless, it’s on Showtime as they show ads all the time for it when I’m watching Dexter.  Though I have never watched the show.  I have sat through the panels for the series at Comic Con a few times, and never heard a bad thing about it.

Michelangelo is going to be played by Noel Fisher, his list of acting jobs is longer than the others.  Right now he has a role in the tv series Shameless, but one of the things that caught my attention is that he was Toad in X-Men Evolution.  So he’s been a voice actor before, and a Mutant.  This has me a bit excited about Noel.  It shows that he’s got some history in the comic to TV, and he did a good job as I really did enjoy that series.  I look forward to see what he can bring to Michelangelo.  I will use the X-Men credit to over look that he is part of the “Twilight Saga” as he was in Breaking Dawn Part 2.

Just when I thought Michelangelo’s actor had me excited, I read up more on Jeremy Howard who is playing Donatello.  Going through his impressive list of films one stands out above all others to me, “Galaxy Quest”.  This is one of my favorite movies of all time, the idea of a TV show finding that their ship is real.  Aliens believe their show is real and need their help.  Watching their show come to life and playing pretend till things get too dangerous.  Only to be saved by the fans of the series.  This is a dream adventure for any fanboy out there and was done so well throughout the movie.  This is not the first TMNT connection to this film as Sam Rockwell from the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle film, played Guy in Galaxy Quest.  So a part of me is fanning here.  Jeremy was Kyle, the tall one of the fans who helped save the Galaxy Quest crew.

This is not the only thing I can respect Jeremy in, as he’s worked on “House”, “Monk”, “Scrubs”, “Malcolm in the Middle”, and was even Drew Lou Who in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”.  Out of the actors who’ve been cast for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, Jeremy is one that has been in a lot of TV shows and some movies that I personally have enjoyed.  He’s got a wide range of stuff out there showing his skills.  This does make me excited, while he’s not being hired for a name, he does have a good background.

There are still some questions to find out about the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film and how it is being handled.  I am now hearing it’s being Motion Capture, I hope that they’re still doing costumes with motion capture on them.  Even though I’d rather just pure costumes with very light CGI to fix any mistakes.  The questions that come now is what all are these actors doing for the characters?  In the original movies it took at least four people per a Turtle, the voice, the face, the acting and the stunts.  Are our actors here also the voices of the Turtles, or just the body acting?  I can not wait to see how this is all going to be done by time the movie comes to theaters.

What do you think of this cast list for the new Ninja Turtle film?  Is there any of these actors that you’re excited about? Please give reviews, comments and questions below!

It's still Michael Bay. And from what I hear, it's still "that script".

Have not believed that script from day one... So I will sit back and see what really comes out of this and won't judge until official news is passed on the story. In stead of 'leaked' information

Hi will the turtles costumes be the same as the turtle movie 1 2 3? Only reason I ask when I saw the preview of it I just didnt like the new costume I hope it will be like 1 2 3 turtle movie

What preview are you talking about?

The turtles will not be same as 1,2,3 this is going to be motion capture. I hope like they did in "Where the Wild Things Are"

For now, all I'm excited about, is to know that WETA is involve .. At least, the CG will be good. On the other hand, I hope there won't be too much of it. I was also a bit scared to see that the stunt coordinator also worked on Dragon Ball Evolution .. I'm trying to stay positive, but after all those terrible reboots and adaptation, it's getting harder every day (have you seen the remake of RoboCop for god sake !!!) !
I really think the original movies should stay the only ones.

The reboot of Robocop is not released yet, only photos of the costume... I try not to knock movies till I see them. I don't mind people taking a crack at doing things, since we'll still always have the originals to go back too.

Unless it's a Lucas movie because he might go back and change the originals.

You're wiser than me .. But I also rely on probability (sort of). When I look at all the remakes produced by Platinum Dune, it's hard not be afraid. They seem to focus on the aesthetic and visual aspect of the movie and nothing else. So visually it's (kinda) great, but the rest is just .. pure vacuum. And, to me, TMNT isn't just visual stuff.

And, don't get me wrong, I'm still hoping but .. Take a look at the synopsis :
"Aliens invade Earth and inadvertently spawn a quartet of mutated reptile warriors, the Ninja Turtles, who rise up against them to defend the world. "

That's "official stuff", and it speaks for itself. What makes the Turtles what they are, is that they grew up on earth, in our cultural environment. Originally, the ooz if from space, but the turtles are actual turtles. I don't see how they are gonna make it work. What's great about TMNT is that, no matter how crazy the story is, you can believe it. They speak English, because they live among us, so they have learn our language, they know our customs, they eat pizzas because they live in NYC and that might be one of the easiest way to get food. If they have lived in Tokyo or in Rio de Janeiro that would have been different.

And they learn the art of ninja from a genuine master. They are learning .. That's a major point to me. Ninjutsu is the vector of their maturity, they are teenagers that can't fit in the outside world, and through this art, they will learn who they truly are, and their real place in this world.

I would see it like that :
It actually looks like the Dragon Ball (the real thing) storyline. They send the turtles as babies on earth to prepare a future invasion, adopted and raised by Splinter, learn our customs and eventually turned against the bad ET ... We will see !
