Kodak Moment #34

I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life.  A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen.  This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own.  I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo.  If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well.  Hope everyone enjoys.  Today’s photo is from my mom in my 6th grade class.

The day was May 4th, 1991.   I was at Harding Elementary in Ferndale, Michigan.  Really the best school I went to back in my School days.  My mom came by and surprised me, with my brother and sister dressed up in the Mikey and Bebop costume.  They brought in cupcakes and the class had a TMNT poster with a Birthday card signed by the entire classroom.  This was my favorite school Birthday party.

My teacher caught this photo of my mom watching the activities, which I just love seeing.  She seems so pulled into the event, the smile on her face shows just how happy she was to bring this surprise there.  She’s wearing one of our old Party Turtle shirts which they would wear when we did children parties.  So many memories caught up in this one moment.  I’m glad my teacher gave us copies of all the photos taken that day.  While this doesn’t have the Turtle or Bebop in the picture, it has my mom and that right there makes this picture gold for me.

Ever have a Birthday party at school which your family took part in?  Tell us your stories.  Please share memories, comments and questions below!
