Random Collection #30

Throughout the years of being a Ninja Turtle fan, my collection has been growing.  Every year I get something new that joins the collection.  Growing since 1989, I have over 500 Ninja Turtle toys out of package and over 300 in package, as well as books, animation cels, original comic art, scripts and so much more.  To cover all of this on Cowabunga Corner is not something I really think I can do.  Though I get a lot of questions about my collection, so I figured I could do random stories from time to time to share one item in my collection.  This one is about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Coin.

This is a collectors item that first saw in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles treasury book.  In a nice case, there is a coin that has the movie poster image on one side and the name Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the other side.  I never saw this for sale in stores, nor did I have even the slightest idea on how to get my hands on this amazing collection piece.  It was a big surprise when a fellow TMNT collector gave me his collection for Christmas in 1999, only to find that coin was part of the pile of gifts.  In it’s case and all.

This is a wonderful piece for collectors that can fit easily into any TMNT collection.  The coin is displayed in the center of this book, and has a few little papers that come with it.  I have taken this to be autographed by both Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, later it was signed by Ernie Reyes Jr. and Steve Barron.  Truly a prize in my collection which I do try to bring to events for people to see.  It is one of two TMNT coins that I know of.  I do not know how many were made of these.

I wouldn’t mind getting more autographs inside the book from other people who worked on the first TMNT movie.  Though there’s not much room left in there.  This is one of those things that I only got from luck of a very cool fan out there who wanted a good home for the things he cherished when he really big into TMNT.  When not going to be displayed at events this book is kept safe at home with my TMNT comics.

Do you have the TMNT Movie Coin?  Where did you find it?  Please share reviews, comments and questions below.
