Kodak Moment #45

March 1993I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life.  A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen.  This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own.  I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo.  If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well.  Hope everyone enjoys.  Today’s photo is from 1993 when my dad was making my second Turtle costume.

Power Con 2013 Panel: Writers of Classic TMNT

At Power Con 2013 there was a lot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles events that went on.  From panels, booths and guests.  This truly was an event that TMNT fans could enjoy.  We will like to share some of these events through video.  This here is the panel for Writers of the Classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.

This panel was originally listed to have six guests appear at it.  Though three of our guests were not able to make it to the event.  The three that were there had a lot to share as seen in this video.  An informative panel for fans of the original TMNT series and inspiring writers.

Interview: TMNT 2014 by Kidrobot

At Toy Fair 2014 we visited a lot of different booths with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles products.  One of the really cool booths was Kidrobot.  They had these toys based on the original TMNT cartoon with characters like Bebop and Rocksteady!  Just one of the areas that we had to check more into for the collectors out there who want to know.  Here is our interview about these awesome new toys.

January 2014 TMNT movie updates.

One thing that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies seem to do for it’s fans is leave us in suspense.  Not the type that we like either, while other movies promote and throw their characters in our faces for a year before a film is released to the public.  Ninja Turtle movies, like to wait and leave us begging for glances.  While some glances have gotten out, they were removed and now we all sit here waiting for the official releases.

Memory of James Avery

One could hope for some good news for starting off the New Year.  Though times remain to be rough all around.  Today, I write this with a heavy heart. I want to wish the family James Avery my deepest condolences.  While I have never met James, his talents and career has touched my life more than once.  He will be deeply missed.

James passed away on December 31st, 2013.  He recently had a surgery and things turned for the worse according to a TMZ report.  James was 65 years old, born on November 27th 1948.

My Disney Books of Memories

There are some prizes in the world that means more to you than just the money spent on the item. This is true for so much of my collection, and sometimes luck evades me and such treasures are lost.  Things that can not be replaced by just a trip to the store.  This is a memory from July 1993 when I visited Disney World and got to see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at MGM Park.

Random Collection Piece #18

Throughout the years of being a Ninja Turtle fan, my collection has been growing.  Every year I get something new that joins the collection.  Growing since 1989, I have over 500 Ninja Turtle toys out of package and over 300 in package, as well as books, animation cels, original comic art, scripts and so much more.  To cover all of this on Cowabunga Corner is not something I really think I can do.  Though I get a lot of questions about my collection, so I figured I could do random stories weekly to share one item in my collection.  This week I’m covering the TMNT Bike Horn from 1993.

Random Collection Piece #4

Review: TMNT Shell Shock Grand Opening!

On March 17th, 2012, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans crowded into Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America to help break a World Record of people dressed up like Ninja Turtles.  For a few months now, we have been promoting that the Cowabunga Corner Crew will be at this event and we were, in full force.  With help from friends Fugitoid, Tokka, TurtleNinja, Draco and my mother, Claudia, we had people throughout the crowd to help cover this amazing story in video, photos and written reviews.

Retiring a part of my TMNT History

In 1993, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were still going strong in Michigan, with the third movie coming to theaters it was an exciting time.  By this point my family had been doing parties as the Party Turtle for two years. Though my costume began to look very worn out from age and me being over active in the suit, so it was time to make a new one.  The new costume was finished in less than a week, as it was worked on by my dad, mom and I.  We were happy to have it done on March 19th, the same day TMNT III came to the theaters.  19 years later, and that costume is now up for retirement.
